Ground Broken for the TAF Education Foundation Student Dormitory

The groundbreaking ceremony for the TSK Eğitim Vakfı (TAF Education Foundation) Student Dormitory was held on May 19. To be built by SERBAN in Maslak, İstanbul, the dormitory will house young people who have been entrusted to us by our martyrs, veterans and heroes and who represent the guarantee of our future.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Yüksel Açık, Chairman of the Board of Açık Holding; Retired Brigadier General Kemal Korkmaz, General Manager of the TAF Education Foundation; Retired Brigadier General Engin Durak, General Manager of the Mehmetçik Foundation; and other guests.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mehmet İlker Akdeniz, General Manager of SERBAN, said that the aim was to offer students the most comfortable and welcoming environment possible at the TAF Education Foundation Student Dormitory: “We have come together to break ground on a building where we will put our technology and engineering capabilities to work creating a secure living environment for the young people to whom we will entrust our future. We are delighted and proud that this project has been entrusted to SERBAN. Student dormitories are vital if our young people are to make the most of their education. I am certain that the young people who grow up within an institution as well-established and visionary as the Turkish Armed Forces will be the source of a future world of trust, freedom and prosperity.”
SERBAN, known for its expertise in technology-focused industrial buildings, plans to deliver the TAF Education Foundation Student Dormitory in 2023. The 10-story dormitory will have a capacity of 826 beds. Beyond meeting students’ accommodation needs, it will support their social lives, and with amenities such as a lobby and social facilities, it will offer comfort on a par with a five-star hotel.
