Data Center Construction

Data Center Solutions

Data center construction differs from conventional building construction: floor loading, seismic resistance, physical and electromagnetic security, fire safety, precision cooling and redundant power infrastructure must all be planned together from the outset. Since 2014, SERBAN has built and commissioned Tier III data centers covering a total project area of 132,094 m² in Türkiye and Europe.

We manage construction with our own engineering and site teams. Structural works, clean room and white space fit-out, mechanical cooling systems, medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution, fire detection and suppression, and building automation are delivered under one integrated programme.

Scope of Our Data Center Construction Services

Structural and Architectural Works

Ground improvement, reinforced concrete and steel structures, high-load floor slabs, façade and roofing systems, and physical security layers (perimeter security, access control, ballistic- and fire-rated partitions).

White Space and Clean Room Fit-Out

Raised access flooring, hot/cold aisle containment, dust- and humidity-controlled rooms, cable management infrastructure for rack rows, and construction of electrical and IT rooms.

Mechanical Infrastructure

Chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, free cooling and liquid cooling provisions, piping, fuel systems and ventilation, installed to N+1 or 2N redundancy architectures.

Electrical Infrastructure

Medium-voltage switchgear and transformer substations, generator sets, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), power distribution units (PDU), busbar systems, earthing and lightning protection.

Fire Safety and Automation

Very early smoke detection (VESDA), gaseous suppression systems, building management systems (BMS), energy monitoring and infrastructure for DCIM integration.

Modular and Phased Construction

We build in phases so that capital is deployed efficiently. On the Ankara, Gebze and Çorlu campuses, we have constructed consecutive modules without interrupting the operating sections. This experience covers working inside live facilities, temporary power and cooling solutions, and strict health and safety protocols.

Quality, Health and Safety, and Environment

All our sites operate under ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems. Material and equipment acceptance, welding and installation quality control, pressure and insulation testing, and pre-commissioning checklists are part of our standard procedures.

Our Delivery Process

  1. Site and Ground Investigation Geotechnical reports, grid connection points and logistics are reviewed.
  2. Construction Documents Architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical construction drawings are coordinated (BIM-supported).
  3. Site Mobilisation The construction programme, health and safety plan and quality plan are put in place.
  4. Structural and Shell Works Foundations, structural frame, roof and façade works are completed.
  5. Mechanical and Electrical Installation Critical equipment is set in place; piping and cabling are completed.
  6. Testing, Commissioning and Handover System tests, integrated systems testing and as-built handover are carried out.

Why SERBAN?

  • Specialised experience: proven references in Tier III data center construction, not only general building.
  • Integrated disciplines: structural, mechanical and electrical works coordinated under one programme.
  • Live-facility capability: experience adding modules to operating campuses without interruption.
  • Schedule and budget discipline: early procurement planning for long-lead equipment.
  • Certified management systems: ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 27001 and 10002.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does data center construction differ from conventional construction?

Data center construction is governed by requirements such as floor load capacity, seismic resistance, physical and fire security, precision cooling, redundant power infrastructure and electromagnetic protection. All disciplines must be planned in an integrated way from the beginning, which is why working with a specialised contractor matters.

What works does SERBAN undertake in data center construction?

We undertake all construction works, including structural and architectural works, white space and clean room fit-out, mechanical cooling infrastructure, medium- and low-voltage electrical infrastructure, fire detection and suppression systems, and building automation.

Can you add a new module to an operating data center?

Yes. We have built consecutive modules on the Ankara, Gebze and Çorlu campuses without interrupting the facilities in operation. Our live-site procedures and temporary infrastructure solutions have been developed specifically for such projects.

How long does data center construction take?

Duration depends on capacity, ground and site conditions, and the lead times of long-lead equipment (transformers, generators, UPS, chillers). With a phased approach, the first module can usually be commissioned within 12–18 months.

Which standards do you build to?

We build to the Uptime Institute Tier design criteria, the TIA-942 and EN 50600 reference standards, and local seismic, fire and electrical regulations. Our sites are operated under ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 management systems.
